Gosh, I don't even know where to start with this post. There are some weddings that stick with you for one reason or another. For me, all weddings I photograph are special and have some amazing moments throughout the day. This wedding however had EVERY SINGLE PERSON crying during the ceremony. Just wait to see what got everyone going.
There are many moments throughout a wedding day that get people teary eyed. Here are just a few that I know to have my camera ready-even through glossy eyes...
Don't miss the end for the #1 moment from this wedding! Get the tissues ready!
Say a little prayer for us.
I love when couples take a moment before the ceremony to share a few sentiments and/or a prayer. It helps with the jitters and calms the spirit for ceremony.
Including the couple's children in the ceremony.
Maybe it's because I have two children from a previous relationship, but it was very important for me to include my girls in my wedding ceremony to my husband. Children are such an enormous part of family life and the couple's relationship, that it only makes sense to offer them a token or have them share their own vows.
When I see other couples incorporating their children into the ceremony, I almost always tear up. I think about my munchkins and husband and I instantly turn on sentimental mommy mode.
They also sometimes make for entertaining moments. ;)
How cute is Taleeyah?!
Giving away the bride.
Sometimes we even have time to sneak in a "first look" with father of the bride.
Photographers see everything and usually get glimpse of the dynamic between the couple and their family/guests. One of my favorite times to be a fly on the wall is when dad sees his daughter dressed like a bride for the first time.
Then the groom sees his bride.
When I first started photographing weddings (and to this day), my favorite shot of the day is the groom loosing his mind when he sees his future wife coming down the isle. Most of the time, they try to hide it, and I find that even cuter.
If I don't capture him crying then, it always happens later during speeches- but that's coming, so hold tight.
And of course the vows get the water works flowing.
Every couple is unique and their vows are sprinkled with their own kind of magic. Having photographed close to 100 weddings in the past couple years, you would think I'd be immune to the emotion floating around the room. Not a chance. I still tear up once in a while when the vows are especially touching.
Thoughtful grooms are the best.
Jackson had a few surprises in store for Kteile. I'm saving the most tear-jerking for the end, but look who he invited to the wedding! DuJuan Harris of the green and gold!
The story comes full circle with DuJuan. The couple met while out at The Bar on College. Jackson was out with DuJuan and Kteile was out with some friends. The rest is history. Within a couple months of dating, they were engaged, and the day after that, THEY WERE MARRIED! This ceremony took place a few months later for friends and family. A few months after that, they welcomed one of the cutest babies I've ever seen into the world. Congrats you two!
Include your kids throughout the entire day.
I know, I know. I'm blubbering about kids again, but it pulls at my heart strings, ok?
Here come the sappy speeches!
It's always interesting to get a glimpse into how the couple grew up and toward each other. A mix of humor, juicy tidbits, and sentiments make amazing speeches.
Use this moment to block out everything else and just be close to the person you love.
And a special first dance with his adorable step-daughter.
Guess what? There are still a few gentlemen left, ladies.
And the moment that had EVERYONE reaching for tissues?
The real reason DuJuan was there...to deliver a wash basin for Jackson to wash Kteile's feet in.
I have personally never seen this done. He explained that it was his way to show his devotion to his wife. Nothing has ever made me cry so much at a wedding! It was so incredibly sweet!
Watch the reactions-totally priceless.
Taleeyah comforting her momma put everyone over the edge...including Jackson's best man (his father) in the background.
Don't forget to bring tissues to the next wedding you attend!
Be sure to check out WMP's booth at the PAC this Sunday. It will be your last chance to secure old pricing! Book Sunday to save a few $$$s.
